Full Steam Ahead for Midland Railway

Spawned from the ashes of the Pink Fluffy Cloud Machine, and describing themselves as “indie-punk-geek-rock gods”, Midland Railway were formed in Manchester in the spring of 2004 by Nick Lote (vox/guitar), Robert Hayton (guitar/vox/bass), Tom Cuell (bass/lead guitar) and David Novan (drums/vox). Playing their first gig in August 2004 at the Night and Day Cafe in Manchester, they have since played numerous gigs in the Manchester area. These include last years In The City festival and dates with the likes of the Narcissus, The Most Terrifying Thing, Rachel Stamp and the Martini Henry Rifles. With their quirky song titles and a bizarre visual mix of the glam (feather boas, eyeliner, furry jackets) and the nerdy (lank hair, glasses, slogan t-shirts), they have built up a strong local following which has led them to a headline slot at the Academy 3 just a year into their career.
