Glasswerk is teaming up with Josephs Well to put on the underground ‘cool’ gig of the summer in Leeds. It’s a bit of a Drowned in Sound trip with Fierce Pandas Battle appearing on the 31st July with DIS label band Redjetson supporting.
Battle are hoping to follow the ever increasing fortunes of Bloc Party and are described as ‘bleak, post-punk tendencies. Edgy, cyclical guitar hooks combine with angular rhythmic patterns for finely sculpted pop delight.’ Their well received debut single on Fierce Panda, Isabelle/Feel The Same, was well received with the 2nd due out this summer. The festival season is bound to be good to this lot with appearances at all the major festivals and an August tour with The Rakes. Catch them before they go stellar.
Essex boys Redjetson were supposed to be the headliners and it all went a bit topsy turvy, however RJ are good enough to headline in their own right – shunning the norm to produce ‘vast, artistically inclined soundscapes are not intrinsically linked with interminable lengths of guitar meandering or fits of laptop-stroking social inadequacy.’
Nice.
Local supports are Glissando – a quickly rising band with muchos rep around here.
