Move over Santa… 'cause MusicWorks is coming to town!
2005 brings the fourth incarnation of the ever-popular MusicWorks – International Cross-Media Music Convention & Festival – to the city of Glasgow. This year festivities will run across 4 nights and 3 days from Wed 31st August to Sat 3rd September.
By day, the city plays host to over 550 key music industry professionals from 16 countries across the globe, who will attend a range of seminars, panels and exhibitions. The central theme of this years conference being 'New Territories For The Entrepreneur'. Whereas, by night, some 20,000 revellers are expected to fill venues across Glasgow – where 165+ artists will be performing in a range of official showcase events, fringe gigs and club nights.
The festival kicks off with it's first official showcase on Wednesday 31st August (8pm) at the city's newest gig venue – the newly refurbished ABC – with performances from Irish rockers Jaga, local act Jupiter & Teardrop, joined by Londoners Twentysixfeet and the Buck Brothers.
Alongside the official showcases, a host of fringe events will be staged in a variety of venues across the city – featuring a diverse range of local talent such as; Sluts of Trust, Drive-By Argument, Tempercalm, Julia Thirteen, Sucioperro, Dirty Marc and Popup… to name but a few! Spoilt for choice, the only problem will be deciding which acts to see!
