Academy Unsigned Presents…

The new term rolls in and straight on the conveyor belt of local music excellence is the first Academy Unsigned showcase of the year. Boasting the cream of the crop and displaying the up and coming wares of unsigned bands from around Liverpool – Academy Unsigned is proud to present…

The Icons
Black Jackals
Ecuador
Pale Faced Princess

The Icons are no newcomer to the Liverpool scene having been a staple part of the plot for the past four years, growing from a collection of young scallies into a mature all action rock and roll combo. Screaming riffs and hard edged vocals talk of dancing, getting a buzz on and generally misbehaving. The name has changed but nothing else has.

Black Jackals occupy the main support slot at their second AU gig with swirling, atmospheric rock with a disco backbone. Think The Doors colliding with The Music and you aren’t far off.

Ecuador are the duel lead vocalists of song writing. Breezy tunes and infectious melodies; it’s off kilter acoustica with an edge. Hinting at the genius of Gomez it will be interesting to see where this lot can take it.

Pale Faced Princess open up the proceedings with stark, tuneful angst. They are ‘sexy, ace and love fiending freshers’. It is also ¾ of the bands birthday so its party time for this female quartet.

Saturday 1st October 2005
@ Academy 2, Liverpool University
Doors 7.30pm, £5 entry.
