Woody Allen and all that jazz

Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band are to play the only UK date of their European tour at the Brighton Centre on 19 December.

The film-maker cum clarinet player, who turns 70 on 1 December, will then travel with his band to Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, culminating with a New Year's Eve show in Warsaw, Poland.

Woody is joined by Simon Wettenhall (trumpet), Jerry Zigmont (trombone), Cynthia Sayer (piano), Eddy Davis (banjo), Conal Fowlkes (string bass) and Rob Garcia (drums).

The band have played jazz on Monday nights for many years, and currently have a residency at the Carlyle Hotel in New York.
