Liverpool Music Week – 20/11/05 to 28/11/05
A week of music loving! Liverpool once again leads the way in providing musical bliss. In its third year Liverpool Music Week 2005 is bigger and better than ever, providing an important date in the musical calendar. This year there are more bands over more venues. Apart from the host venue Tea Factory, The Barfly, The Zanzibar, Bar Hannah, FACT, Korova, Metropolitan & Quiggins will all be used to host a cauldron of musical talent.
Last year we had the likes of ‘Ian McCulloch’ blasting out Velvet Underground covers what more can one want! Superb settings; Liverpool is a burst with eclectic mixes of venues, people and bands. A secret underworld locked away from the world is now on show so don’t miss out. Enough now, what is in store: the line up then?
The curtain raiser on Sunday 20th finds us at The Tea Factory from 5pm we see brilliant local talents like The Stanleys, The Jackals and The Prelude amongst many other gems.
Fancy some after work entertainment on Monday 21st? Well at Tea Factory you have the most rousing of bands The Aeroplanes and The Basement headlining. Many others are of course on show including The Maybes and Tuco. The Barfly opens with Vic Damone and after other artists The Most Terrifying Thing top the bill.
Tuesday 22nd how good is it that Hard Days Night is showing at the FACT cinema?! Then step across to Tea Factory for another nice set of bands with The Stands as brilliant as ever headlining. Alternatively (or both If you like?) head to the legendary Zanzibar where the Heads of State, The Monzas, Fridge Mountain Fries, Soviet Underdog and Beggars Belief are playing.
Wednesday 23rd, Tea Factory, Ian McNabb on top form and Bar Hannah Jazzing it up with a quality selection of artists topping with The Whiskey Cats.
‘Interstella 5555’ shows Thursday 24th FACT style. Daft Punks film of mayhem and carton capers. Former Miss America, Ambulance and Lovecraft are only a few of the enigmatic bands on show at the Tea Factory. We also welcome The Metropolitan who are hosting The Sillhouettes, The Veras, The Black Jackals, Karmen Vega, Lukas Kasha and Bexy Sitch.
Friday 25th finishing work for the weekend head straight to the Tea Factory for Shanks Gumaras, River Niger, Musica World, Mamadou and the Libador Super Band, The Senator Reggae Soundsystem and Senator B amongst others.
Saturday 26th showcases at new hottest place to go in town, Korova. Here To My Boy, Youth of Britain, The Delta Fiasco and Emmet will play into the mysterious Liverpool sky. The Tea Factory host’s Genie Queen, Broke N English, I Candi, Fade 2, Philly Whizz & DJ Rasp, just to name a few.
Sunday 27th bursts with ’End of the Century, The Story of the Ramones’ at the FACT with John Power of The La’s and Cast heading up a special Tea Factory show. Oh look out there is also a special unlisted guest this usually is a nice surprise.
Monday 28th just in case you have not had enough of this awesome event, The Kooks are on at The Zanzibar with their impressive fun loving tunes with ‘Eddie’s Gun’ and ‘Sofa Song’ sure to be on show.
It is a shame I can’t fit every band in this preview but all you have got to get into your excited minds is, think Liverpool! think over a week’s worth of eclectic bands! think Regge, Soul, Punk, Pop, Jazz and indie, think wicked venues and dancing shoes! This week is going to be the most important week of your life. We celebrate music once again and we show that no matter who you are or where you’re from you can be involved in music! John, Paul, Ringo and George watch us and are proud we are coming back to what we know!!!!
