Six UK bands to play EuroSonic showcase, Kubb , Adem, Duels, King Creosote, Telex and Mohair are all confirmed for a showcase at this year Noorderslag Weekend, the annual platform for the international live music industry in the Netherlands, from 12 – 14 January 2006.
Comprising of the EuroSonic, Noorderslag festivals and Noorderslag Seminar, the Noorderslag Weekend has its largest program ever this year, with over 180 bands performing over three days, and radio broadcasts from over 24 European stations to millions of listeners – all celebrating the festival's 20 years of staying ahead in rock, pop and dance music. In 2006 as ever, the Noorderslag Weekend is the most comprehensive roundup of what's new & happening in Europe.
From the UK, BBC Radio One will broadcast a two hour EuroSonic special on the One World show on Sunday night, featuring live music from the festival. More material will be broadcast on One Music with Huw Stephens and Rob Da Bank
Noorderslag Weekend expects 1800 professionals such as agents, promoters, festival organisers, management companies and radio stations, as well as extensive media coverage in all the main European music magazines. To give you an idea of just how much goes on at Noorderslag, last year saw the involvement of 1550 professionals, 35 panels and meetings, 178 bands performing, 14.200 visitors (sold out), 39 European festival representatives, 9 nationalities, 60 foreign journalists.
