Glasswerk Leeds are at it again putting on a fine spread of bands. The Conway Story are fresh from supporting The Bluetones and are on tour with Glasswerk calling in at Leeds Joseph's Well on 23/02/06.
What a terrific night in store as not only do we have superb headliners we have the chance to show some of the local bands that look set to be big in 2006. The Good Die Young, The Rise and The Touch are all confirmed for a mouth watering night.
The Conway Story
Bring intensity and in your face guitar sounds that will have you prancing about like maniacs. Rough Trade announced that The Conway Story provide “a grandiose rock sound that's like the early work of the Smashing Pumpkins or Placebo…”. ‘Photogenic’ provides a Cooper Temple Clause bash in the face, a true raucous of glory that can only lift the band to greater heights. A download only release of “Even When The Wind Blows” is out 20th Feb. The band will also be going back in the studio with Chris Sheldon to record some more tracks for their album due for release later in the year.
The Good Die Young
A Glasswerk Leeds favourite for 2006, we have the pleasure of seeing The Good Die Young giving out some of their more complete band sounds. After a series of acoustic shows the band bring out their awesome lingering sounds that are full of soul. Stone Roses at their hidden softness and The Music at their bellowing echoness, The Good Die Young are an exciting prospect indeed.
The Rise
These lads show no mercy. Led Zep and Doors quirkiness with in your face Northern sounds. ‘Easy Rider’ loves the sound of The Happy Monday’s. New wave 90’s in 2006 ‘New Situation’ has the shake up ability to rock your socks off. Andy-Vocals, Jon-Guitars, Kirk-Bass, Mike-Drums complete the band. A new year, a new start and The Rise look set to start the year with a hell of a set at The Well.
The Touch
The Bradford trio have a wicked sound that keep you hooked to the very end of their bluesy music. Rock also kicks in to start the bluesy track. With little gems of tracks all lined up The Touch are a must see band. Glasswerk Leeds reveiwed December single, ‘Stick it to the man’ as ‘a frenzied attack on your ex girlfriend, power pop madness which is sheer joy addictiveness that makes you skip around.'
A great start to the year for Glasswerk Leeds, as we look set to storm the city over the year with the announcement of our new Glasswerk Academy nights. We will be hosting Glasswerk Leeds Academy at the new band room (Mine) at Leeds Univeristy hosting the cream of Leeds bands whilst also holding our Glasswerk Baby Academy at The Vine monthly. So watch this space!!!
