The Concretes release 'In Colour', the follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut on 6th March on Licking Fingers / EMI Records.
'In Colour' was recorded in Stockholm and mixed in Nebraska with producer Mike Mogis (Conor Oberst's longtime co-conspirator, live musical director and producer for Bright Eyes, Jenny Lewis & Rilo Kiley, The Faint, et al). It is the first time that Mogis has worked outside of his own Presto! Studio in Omaha.
The album is very much a step on from the last one in terms of song writing and marks a change in the band's sound too. For the first time there are lead vocals from Maria on 'Grey Days' and Lisa on a duet with Romeo from The Magic Numbers on 'Your Call'.
Other honorary Concretes on this album include Mike Mogis on pedal steel and assorted instruments, Anna Havneskold who has performed with the band on tour playing violin on several tracks, and the first signing to the band's own Licking Fingers label, Frida Hyvonen, singing backing vocals on the track 'As Four'.
Once again the artwork for the album has been created by Lisa from the band and Swedish artist Liselotte Watkins.
The band have been confirmed as special guests on the Magic Numbers forthcoming UK tour including the NME Brats Show at Brixton Academy on Thursday 16th February. Some of these are also headline gigs by The Concretes. Official site here link
