A-Ha, Embrace and Billy Idol Confirmed for Guilfest’s 15th Year!
GuilFest returns for 2006 proudly announcing a set of truly outstanding headliners that are sure to give Stoke Park a real weekend to remember, with Embrace, A-Ha and Billy Idol all confirmed to play the Radio 2 main stage at Guilfest’s 15th year!
The Wonderstuff, Lightning Seeds, Gary Numan, The Stranglers and Sparks will also be performing and many more top names will be confirmed soon!
Embrace are top of the bill for the main stage on Friday 14th July, who with recently making it a hat trick of number one albums and being selected to record the official England World Cup song, are a fantastic headliner for the opening night of the festival – particularly as all hopes are that the bands ability to score hat tricks will inspire England’s football team so if we win, the crowd will go wild!
Norwegian rock-pop Gods A-Ha were the first act to be confirmed for Guilfest 2006 and will be performing on Saturday 15th July in Stoke Park. With their anthem ‘Take On Me’, practically a theme tune for ’80s pop itself, the 1985 hit ‘The Sun Always Shines on TV’ and the James Bond theme ‘Living Daylights’, Stoke Park is ready to rock once again!
Last but be no means least, Billy Idol, with a rock pedigree that stretches back to the Punk explosion, who howled “Rebel Yell,” growled “White Wedding,” rocked the “Cradle of Love,” and manhandled “Mony Mony” is set to headline the main stage on Sunday 16th July. With such an international rock icon as a climax to the weekend, GuilFest 2006 is sure to go down as the best yet!
GuilFest 2006 – the fun, family friendly festival – will be bigger and better than ever with these headline acts confirmed for the BBC Radio 2 main stage, along with the introduction of a late license, larger comedy lounge and a new variety theatre tent along with the return of the hugely successful ‘Rock Cave’ for those who like their music with attitude!
“It’s an amazing line-up, intended to keep the focus on fun, whilst providing everyone with quality entertainment” said Tony Scott, who has been organising the independently run festival since it began in 1992. “Now in its 15th year, Guilfest is attracting more and more visitors every year and has truly established itself as one of the UK’s leading festivals”.
With its 150 foot beer tent and Calypso Cocktail Bar licensed to 1am, an extensive KidZone and funky dance tent, Guilfest visitors can expect a weekend of live musical entertainment coupled with comedy, children’s entertainment, street theatre, the new theatre tent, art/craft exhibitions, and caterers from around the world providing a variety of meals in a truly festive yet incredibly friendly atmosphere.
Further acts will be announced over the coming weeks, and line-up additions will be added to the website on a frequent basis. Tickets are selling fast in what looks set to be a record year for Guilfest, so book now to avoid disappointment!
