'MAD STARING EYES' are a 4-piece from London. This year you will be
hearing their name a lot. Their songs about self-worth in the modern
world, delivered with punk energy and irreverent humour won them the
John Peel competition in 2005, following directly in the footsteps of 'The Subways' (who they have since supported).
They subsequently stormed the Peel Stage at Glastonbury, becoming one of the most talked about unsigned bands in the UK. The enthusiastic
reception to their self-titled debut EP then led to 'MAD STARING EYES'
being invited to perform at the legendary SXSW festival in Texas.
The band spent late 2005 recording at Konk Studios, home of 'The Kinks'
Ray Davies and crowd favourite 'Walking In The Streets' is being
released from these sessions as a limited edition vinyl single to follow
the US mini-tour that finished so successfully in Texas in March 2006.
“They sound like the Virgin Radio and XFM playlists – combined by some
kind of mad scientist. The result being akin to Keane on crack” NME
“The must have, must see band of the moment” XFM
“They make me feel unsafe and I love that! Cool, interesting and edgy
music. Something's gonna go off here!” Radio 1
Walking The Streets is released on July 17th on BongoBongo records
