The Hedrons debut single and UK tour news

At last an all girl rock band with bite – introducing The Hedrons – who release their debut single, ‘Be My Friend’, on 31st July via Measured Records/Pinnacle. The single is taken from the band’s debut album due out in the autumn.

Formed in spring 2005 The Hedrons have collectively flown into their career at full speed. Storming in with a relentless gigging schedule capped by several sell out performances in their native Glasgow, they have established themselves as one of the city's foremost emerging rock and roll bands.

The Hedrons are Tippi (Guitar & Lead Vocals), Chi (Bass & Vocals), Rosie (Lead Guitar) and Soup (Drums).

If the music of The Hedrons were a place, it would be where you go to disrobe, have a moment of revelatory pause, and suddenly scream your guts out at the end of a long day. Co-mingling easily with the gritty wide-eyed beauty of The Slits, the strong steadiness of Joan Jett's orchestrated screams, and the revolutionary and raw hip factor of PJ Harvey, this rare outfit manages to confront all sides of your musical preferences head on.

The Hedrons' music is decidedly one part Ramones-esque brawn, one part femme fatale roar, and one part ruthless guitar-driven nerve. Or as lead guitarist Rosie humorously puts it, “If you listen to us, you wouldn't realise it was girls until Tippi starts singing – you'd think it was a bunch of big hairy guys playing.” They describe their sound as the modern love child of the Foo Fighters and Joy Division godfathered by Iggy Pop &The Stooges.
