Christopher Comes Down from the Mountain

Singer songwriter Christopher Rees has been named as the next act to feature in the Acoustic in the Bar series at The Galeri venue in Caernarfon. Christopher Rees, the winner in the 2004 best male solo artist category at the Welsh Music Awards, returns with his second album Alone on a Mountain Top. This second release follows his highly acclaimed debut The Sweetest Ache, the result of an agonising two and a half years working with his seven-piece band. As an antidote Rees retreated to the hills of Wales to record the follow up (hence the title) Alone on a Mountain Top. He took himself, his mobile recording studio and a car full of guitars to Ty Bach Twt (a 200 year old cottage in the mountains outside Aberystwyth) with the aim of recording a new album on his own in only seven days.
The resulting work Alone on a Mountain Top has been received well across the UK and Europe gathering high praise from many music publications. Released in June 2005 it reflected Rees’ love of both Blues and Country, providing a more striped down and immediate sound compared to that of his first album. With work already underway on a new album and other instrumental film projects this is a rare live date. Christopher Rees plays live at The Galeri in Caernarfon on Wednesday, September the 13th when he will showcase songs from the new album. For more info call 01286 685222.
