Old favourites are big winners at the Q Awards

Music heavyweights gathered at the Q Awards yesterday to witness some of the industry's more durable members receive recognition.

Attendees of the ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel included U2, Kasabian, The Who, The Kooks, Paul Weller, Oasis, Sugababes, Manic Street Preachers, Peter Gabriel, Embrace, Primal Scream, Take That, Smokey Robinson, Muse, Keane, Jay Kay, Razorlight, Jeff Lynne of ELO fame.

It was the long standing artists that appealed to Q Magazine readers' tastes; acts such as A-Ha, Oasis, Primal Scream, Faithless and Manic Street Preachers all walked away with awards recognising their immense contribution to music history.

But the awards weren't without controversy with Jonothan Ross launching a verbal attack on Heather Mills McCartney, estranged wife of Beatle-singer Sir Paul McCartney. In his speech he said “What a f***ing liar… I wouldn't be surprised if we found out she's actually got two legs.”
