Akira the Don plays Glasswerk London

Glasswerk is proud to announce that Akira The Don will be headlining at Madame Jojo's on Monday November 27th – the London stop on his national tour.

His biog is short… “The product of 2 years in Halesowen, 14 years in North Wales, 1 year in Redditch, two years in Birmingham, a number of years in London and FOUR YEARS UP MY OWN ASS, I have nice hair and play a mean Kazoo. And Carter USM and Ice Cube and Billy Bragg and Chris de Burgh and Moz and The Wu probably have a lot to answer for”.

Others are slightly more detailed

“If “Oh! What A Glorious Thing” is Akira The Don’s breakout track, then this album is the essential arsenal to back it all up. The pulsating hip hop of “Liverpool” is jammed with a bursting electronic fire and the subtle addition of a subliminal guitar riff. Dead clever stuff that includes an earlier single “Clones” and the cruising Human League-ish “London”, which seems to hang off a refrain similar to The Stranglers “Get A Grip“ – it’s another stand out, powerful track, a feat that’s repeated on “Dead Babies”.

This is an essential album that embraces the realities of The Streets, full blown hip hop and a sense of adventurism. Applaudable ('til your hands are sore) but more importantly, enjoyable stuff.” Manchester Music

Either way, this promises to be an incredible show in a very intimate venue. Get your tickets from link before thay all go.
