Arctic Monkeys announce 2nd date to festival

The Arctic Monkeys are to stage their own festival next summer. The event will take place on July 28 at Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Old Trafford.
The Arctic Monkey’s drummer, Matt Helders said that they enjoyed getting their hands dirty forming their own event.
The band is currently looking for other bands to support them at the festival.
The Arctic Monkeys are an Indie Rock band consisting of four members. They were formed in Sheffield, and their first two singles: ‘When the Sun goes Down’ and I bet you Look Good on the Dancefloor’ went straight to number one.
Formed in 2002, their front man Alex Turner (lead guitar and vocals), Jamie Cook (rhythm guitar). Their drummer Matt Helders (backing vocals), and Nick O’Malley (bass guitar) although until recently this position was held by Andy Nicholson.
Although they have enjoyed massive success the whole band is quite shy and have refused to appear on numerous shows.

All remaining tickets to their 50,000 capacity show at Lancashire County Cricket Ground were sold within 15 minutes of going on general sale. An initial allocation of 20,000 pre-sale tickets were sold to Arctic Monkey fans ahead of general sale.

Due to the overwhelming demand, the band have announced a second date at Lancashire County Cricket Ground, Manchester on Sunday 29th July 2007.
