Ghosts – a top tip for 2007

One defining moment of clarity embedded within a two-week drunken haze over the festive period, was my sojourn to a massively over-subscribed Atlantic Records showcase at Ronnie Scotts for indie-popstarts Ghosts.

A short lunchtime gig where industry bods turned up in their droves for free beer and nibbles, and left with a certainty that they had just witnessed one of the success stories of 2007.

Together in numerous guises for several years, it is hard to belive that, with their debut album out in May, just a few months ago Ghosts were unsigned. That all changed when Atlantic won the race to their signature and promptly holed them up in studios to knock out an LP before Christmas. A remarkable ascent by any standard.

Their rise is already being recognised with rave press reviews. Meanwhile the BBC has picked up on them, describing them as “harmonic London-based soft rockers with a knack for killer hooks”
and named them one of the top 10 new acts for 2007, alongside more established acts such as The Klaxons, Just Jack and Mika. In fact Glasswerk urges you to vote for them from that top ten list – they are currently sitting in 3rd!
