Factory Records founder Tony Wilson has been diagnosed with cancer. During a routine check-up, a doctor apparently identified a problem with his right lung.
According to NME.COM, his right kidney was then revealed to be 'consumed' by cancer. The kidney has now been removed, and Wilson is due to begin 10 days of treatment at Christie Hosptal in Manchester.
As well as launching the monumentally influential Factory label, Wilson also managed many of it's biggest acts including Happy Mondays and Joy Division. He is also the man behind the now infamous Hacienda nightclub.
He has reportedly described the news as 'another step in life's adventure'.
