Brit Award Winners

James Morrison has won Best Male and Amy Winehouse Best Female at the Brit Awards. Arctic Monkeys were the top band of the night, taking home Best Group and Best Album at the ceremony in London. Muse were named Best British Live Act while the Fratellis won Best British Breakthrough.
.

Winehouse, 23, beat hotly-tipped Lily Allen and soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae to the fiercely-contended female title.
She said: “Thank you very much”, and added: “I'm glad my mum and dad are here, to be honest.”

Soul singer Joss Stone, wearing a Milly mini-dress, presented the best British Male Solo Artist award to James Morrison.

The 22-year said: “I really, really didn't expect this. I did try to think of a speech but I didn't want to pre-empt losing.
“I'd just like to say I can't believe I'm here. This one's for every singer-songwriter still playing in pubs.”

The show opened with a performance by the Scissor Sisters of their hit single I Don't Feel Like Dancing.

Hosted by Russell Brand, the ceremony is live for the first time in years as organisers hope to add more excitement to a night which has become tame in recent years.
Canadian artist Nelly Furtado won International Female Solo Artist and Las Vegas group The Killers had a double win with best International Album for Sam's Town and best International Group.
