Mad Staring Eyes- One to Look out For

MAD STARING EYES are a 4-piece from London. Their punk energy, pop melodies and irreverent humour won them the John Peel competition in 2005, following directly in the footsteps of The Subways.

They subsequently stormed the Peel Stage at Glastonbury, becoming one of the most talked about unsigned bands in the UK. The enthusiastic reception to their self-titled debut EP then led to MAD STARING EYES being invited to perform at the legendary SXSW festival in Texas.

The band spent late 2005 recording at Konk Studios, home of The Kinks' Ray Davies and crowd favourite 'Walking In The Streets' has just been released from these sessions as a limited edition vinyl single.

Mad Staring Eyes have spent the last few months gigging extensively around the country, playing their own headline shows as well as supporting the likes of The Subways, The Automatic, The Fratellis and The Guillemots.

“They sound like the Virgin Radio and XFM playlists – combined by some kind of mad scientist… The result being akin to Keane on crack” NME

“Mightily impressive new-wave melodicism of the highest regard. Next Big Thing written all over this fooker” Subba-Cultcha

“This is something a bit special…makes you want to laugh, cry, dance and sing all at the same time. Mad Staring Eyes are the essential band of the moment.” Transparent Magazine
