Metro-tastic!

In the midst of Liverpool’s mixed music scene there is one place that is growing in reputation for pushing Liverpool’s hottest bands. The Metropolitan on Berry Street is becoming an incubator in nurturing exciting new bands. Thursday nights are becoming packed out with sweaty indie goers getting in on new wave Liverpool. Thursday’s are the new party nights and The Met always has a bustling crowd eager to view free live bands & DJ Benny spinning the disks.

‘The Metropolitan is situated within Liverpool’s Creative Quarter, at the heart of the city’s student village. It is a worthy resident of the 2008 Capital of Culture City’s growing Metropolitan Image. The venue successfully combines the Traditional Pub with the Contemporary Bar, capturing Liverpool’s cosmopolitan and friendly atmosphere with its cutting edge, yet bohemian character. An important part of The Metropolitans cultural aspect, is the venue also serves as an Exhibition Gallery, presenting works by local artists. The Metropolitan is a vibrant hive of musical activity. It is a community that welcomes an eclectic mix of students, locals and tourists of all ages and musical backgrounds, with a varied clientele from the different musical scenes.’ It is also an important part of the annual Liverpool Music Week.

Unsigned acts, such as The Aeroplanes, Bexy Stitch, Peter & The Wolf, The Pedantics, The Silhouettes, The Affection and many more are being put under the spotlight and flying the flag for Liverpool’s music scene. Special guest DJ’s on various nights have included Russell Pritchard (The Zutons), Mani (Primal Scream/Stone Roses), Colin Murray (BBC Radio 1), and Ben & Matt (Dead 60s). John Pedantic also plays out his Indie soul classics on a Sunday.

This Thursday 29th March we have The Pedantics and The Howls a most stupendous line up and its free!
