Maybe there’s something in the water. Maybe there’s something in the air. Maybe it’s something in the Newcastle Brown Ale. Call it what you will, there’s just something in the North East that’s not quite right. Having already had our heads twisted by the likes of The Futureheads, Maximo Park and Field Music the growth of art-rock simply refuses to die down.
With so many highly touted new British rock bands clearly emerging from an ever growing pool of staid shite (The Twang, The View, BORING!) Dartz! are providing an exciting injection of jangled, poppy, art-rock. Forget the rather naff looking ‘z’ and de rigueur punctuation mark on the end of their name Dartz! are more deserving of your attention than any other new band. Fast, smart and possessing that occasional blast of heavy rock power Dartz! have the makings of a great cult rock band and one of the best new bands of 2007.
