Glasswerk vs Barden's Boudoir

Last week Glasswerk put on gigs at three new venues in London: KOKO, The Islington Academy and The Underworld. Tomorrow, yet another is added to the Glasswerk roster.

Barden's Boudoir may well be the smallest and least well known of the above but it's undeniably the most interesting. The 300 capacity basement venue is fast-becoming the first-stop in North London for bands wanting to play a show in surroundings that are just alittle bit different.

The nearest overground is Dalston-Kingsland (two stops from Highbury & Islington tube), Bardens is then a five minute walk up Kingsland Road.

Buses 67, 76, 149 and 243 stop on our doorstep. Buses 149, 243 and 76 operate all night.

Buses 242, 30, 38, 56 all go to Dalston Junction which is a five minute walk up to Bardens. Buses 38 and 242 operate all night.

The first person to email me gets free entry for two on Thursday night to celebrate our launch.

Battle of Balaclava
Kitty and the Drowning Bag
Wartgore Hellsnicker
Black Autumn Gold

7.30pm £6 (£5/flyer)

Kitty and the Drowning Bag
Sexy, passionate, jazzy, and a little bit dirty. They comprise simply of drums, bass and a female vox yet some-how
manage to sound massive. Like Shellac spiking Portishead with Viagra.

Wartgore Hellsnicker
Born autumn 2005 as a celebration of imperfection and ugly, Wartgore Hellsnicker are based in a basement in Watford. They are people that make tunes, really quickly with whatever's at hand.

They play music for people that don't like other people that much. With no rules on members and/or instruments abilities/quality, Wartgore Hellsnicker is in a constant state of organic metamorphosis. What goes in is uncertain, what comes out is even more uncertain. This remarkable ethos makes for an incredibly interesting live show.

Battle Of Balaclava
The sound track to a late night bar fight in a small Spanish town. The sound of hope emerging from disaster. Using an assortment of stringed instruments that get progressively smaller throughout their set, Battle Of Balaclava play dusty, up-beat tunes with folk/country/blues style quirks.

Black Autumn Gold
Hailing from north London Black Autumn Gold play delicate, fragile folk music with elements of white noise. Like day- dreaming whilst on a building site.
