This is, guaranteed to chart, archetypal, American high school pop. It defines the term ‘formulaic’ and it’s absolutely horrible. OK, it’s for a younger market, but are people, even teenagers, really this short of taste?
I bet these guys just can’t believe their luck! They have been plucked out of obscurity to fill a gap which clearly exists in the industry for a pop band that only lasts three months before quickly petering out so that within a year, all they have to show for their success is a ring tone.
It really is amazing that, in supposedly precarious times for the industry, labels still have the surplus cash to invest in a band like this. I suppose there are shades of Panic at The Disco here but neither the lyrics nor the music are nearly as strong.
If you recognise the name of this band in five years I will buy a hat and eat it.
