The Used - The Bird and the Worm
Album Review

The Used – The Bird and the Worm

Oh so theatrical are these boys, and it’s no surprise. They have overcome a number of obstacles to finally reach where they are now, and have signed to Reprise Records with whom they released their debut album in 2002. Third album Lies for the Liars released May this year, features The Bird and the Worm. It’s heavily produced, feels like there’s an orchestra in the room, layers of vocals, and guitars and strings, overwhelming. The Used and Meat Loaf don’t have much in common, but this track certainly makes me think of the Loaf, a powerful sweeping chorus, big vocal attacks.

This song is absolutely fully loaded, complete with pious undertones. I can’t escape the sense I am being preached to, although I know that is not the case, it’s just the tone of the music, which one might atone to Muse.

There is no doubt this is a great song. Obviously brilliant musicians, it sounds expensive. Good luck to them
