Angus & Julia Stone - Private Lawns
Album Review

Angus & Julia Stone – Private Lawns

Looking back through time, there has always been duos out there making music together. It has also been common for family to get together and form a band together, though in this modern age neither seems so common as it once may have did.

Angus & Julia Stone maybe not surprisingly judging by the name have both of these in common but it’s also very difficult to tell if it has any bearing on the music.

What we have here is a song that is aimed at the ‘more mature’ listener. One that has grown up and looks at the notion of scenes like Nu rave with a sly and slightly smug smile knowing they have seen similar come and go within several blinks of an eye.

This is a song that will appeal to the stereotypical radio 2 listener, a female vocal floats over a plucked guitar and even features a trumpet solo but to these ears it just lacks something vital that will force it above and beyond what similar artists are already doing. Maybe it’s just a song for the grown ups to understand.
