SHAMBALA FESTIVAL 2007

Shambala is back – August Bank Holiday 24 -26th August! This, the sixth festival after last year’s break, promises to be the best ever. And the website gives us Ten Commandments to prove it. The Shambala trailer on the website promises 100 inspired Bands across 7 stages; Gurning; Hula like a Hawaiian; Hot Tub Heaven; Medieval Sports Day; Famous Fancy Dress; Rollerdisco: Cheap coaches from 5 cities; A Huge Kids Zone; Saturday Night Fancy dress freak show! As well as the diverse mix of music there are also stages for cabaret, poetry, spoken word and debates.

Not your usual festi then! The main stage is offering Ska to gypsy, funk to flamenco, the Dance Dome with live acts and DJs, a Sick Kool n Hammered Caberet Stage for poetry slams and cabaret obviously. The Rebel Soul Village and the Blackout Multi-Media Tent a feast of film, music, live film scores and live streaming. This is the best family festival on the circuit.

The rest is a mystery in keeping with the alternative and non commercial manifesto. No bands have been announced on the website and the event is a festival discovery and not just one to attend to watch bands you already know and love. Saying that, bands as successful as The Bees have performed here in years past and the line up – although a complete blank with a month to go – will have something for everyone. It will be a hippy-tastic weekend of fun – so let yourself go. They are even promising sunshine and that is something no other festival this summer has come up with! The country estate in beautiful Northamptonshire will make for a stunning setting especially if they keep their pledge. Take the plunge on this one while it is still a secret.
