Ari Up! Tickets are going fast…

Ari-Up, the lead singer of punk pioneers The Slits, has been confirmed to play The Hold in Glasgow’s Admiral Bar on Tuesday 14th August.
Performing with her band The True Warriors, the Queen of punk reggae will perform in conjunction with Pretty Ugly Presents, which is described as ‘a random offshoot of the club which takes place whenever someone fabulous arrives in Scotland’. And there is certainly no-one more fabulous than Ari-Up.
At just 14 she kick started the Slits, a band famous for influencing modern day lovelies like The Gossip and Le Tigre.
In the 1980s Ari retired, living naked in the Belize Jungle but by the early 1990s she started developing the music that has now found fruition with the True Warriors. In the rootsy but funky sound of musicians Douglas “grand pepper of reality” Principato (guitar), “Father” Ira Heaps (bass), and Gregg Mervine (drums), she found the accomplices who could help manifest the sound she'd been seeking.

Tickets are available now priced £10 (s.t.b.f) from Ticket Scotland in person or by calling Edinburgh (Rose Street) on 0131 220 6227 or Glasgow (Argyle Street) on 0141 204 5151 or online at link. Doors will be at 8.30pm with DJ sets from Pretty Ugly residents The Underskirts.
