Having been whittled down from the over 1000 tracks, three of the original nine UK finalists will now go head-to-head with nominees across the globe…

The acts vying for the awards in three genres are:

Stefan & The Artschool (London)
Get Shakes (IoW)
and
The Steers (Cardiff)

The selection follows a number of Diesel U Music showcase gigs around London and the UK, which saw all nine finalists playing at some of the most prestigious specialist nights including YoYo at the Notting Hill Arts Club and Club Fandango at the Dublin Castle. Diesel-U-Music’s esteemed judging partners then slimmed the finalists down to one UK winner per genre.

Urban finalists Stefan and the Artschool hail from West London and create their own brand of ‘Indie-Hop’. Still in their teens Stefan Abingdon and Maya Yianni only recently finished school but it wont be long before they have every conceivable A&R hot on their heels.

Cardiff based angular indie rockers The Steers wowed the judges at the recent Diesel U Music/Club Fandango showcase at the Dublin Castle. Having secured themselves a booking agent so early on in their career, The Steers have recently supported NME favourites the Hold Steady; a great future beckons.

Isle of Wight’s finest electro noiseniks Get Shakes trounced the opposition in the Electronic category. A favourite of legendary Xfm DJ Eddy Temple Morris, Get Shakes changed their name from Shakes this year and have played a number of high profile gigs around the world, Get Shakes are one of the most in demand unsigned bands in the UK.

The Diesel-U-Music Awards will see the international winning acts from each genre presented with their awards plus additional accolades presented for Contribution To Music and Music Icon. Award winners will take to the stage to perform along with established and breaking acts. The aftershow will then open to ticket holders who will also be able to see a mix of 2007 winners, established artists, up-and-coming names and past winners perform and DJ.

The Diesel-U-Music Awards take place at Koko on 3 October 2007.

Top performers will be announced soon so watch this space…
