North Wales festival Wakestock ended in total disaster last weekend when the entire festival was called off on Saturday morning. After torrential downpours throughout the weeks running up to the festival the final straw came on the opening Friday when the rains returned and continued non stop for close to 48 hours. By Saturday morning the fields had turned into mud baths and the organisers announced that the entire day, to be headlined by Dirty Pretty Things, had to be cancelled. Having sold out the event for the first time and seen tickets trading on ebay for hundreds over face value the cancellation came as a cruel blow to the organisers. Reports came through that people had taken up to 10 hours to get off the site and home with card covered in mud driving through Porthmadog all day. Having done a remarkable job with the festival since it started one can only hope for better luck next year.
