Forget T in The Park, the Connect Festival will become Scotland’s best festival. Despite much competition from Lattitude, Glastonbury et al, Connect takes the prize for festival line up of the summer. Connect runs for the first time over the weekend of Friday 31st August – Sunday 2nd September in the fairy-tale grounds of Inveraray castle, Argyll, Scotland. The headliners are a head busting cocktail of clashes; how can you choose between Beastie Boys and The Go! Team, Primal Scream and Modest Mouse, and Bjork and the Scots Idlewild? Set on the mystical banks of Loch Fyne a multitude of fan favorites will entertain 20,000 people each day over 3 stages.
The line-up is second only to its dramatic location. Just 90 minutes from Glasgow, Connect offers a real tent with a view for 12,000 campers who will be able to reside on the banks of Loch Fyne, with gorgeous rolling hills and Inveraray Castle in their view. It can also challenge for the most diverse range of artists on one bill. Dance to CSS before idolising Jarvis Cocker ; sing along to ‘Another Girl, Another Planet’ with The Only Ones ; groove to the world’s best band The Hold Steady ; join a cult with the Polyphonic Spree; freak out to Hot Chip and relive the best days with Teenage Fanclub, Echo and the Bunnymen and The Super Furry Animals. . And how good can a festival be if Patrick Wolf opens the main Oyster Stage on the Sunday and Jenny Lewis’ Rilo Kiley play the smaller Guitars & Other Machines Stage before Bobby Gillespie has even begun his pre show whisky-athon?! There will be three stages packed with the very best new and classic artists along with the freaky Silent Disco, an unsigned bandstand, local food and drink and even a pampering spa.
As part of the Highland 2007 celebrations, Connect is not just about music, it’s about enhancing and embracing its location, enjoying local offerings, Woodland Walks, breathtaking views, local history and experiencing one of the most beautiful and untouched parts of Scotland. The drive to the festival is considered one of THE most beautiful in the UK. Travel partner Citylink will be on hand to pick you up from airports and cities all over Scotland, with connections from south of the border easily arranged.
