Frank Black - Best of '93-'03
Album Review

Black Francis – Captain Pasty

The moment the dirty bass driven groove of Captain Pasty, the new single from Black Francis (a.k.a Frank Black of Pixies fame), rips from the stereo speakers, one thing is immediately clear: sitting still for the next two and bit minutes is going to prove rather difficult.

A glorious punk ‘n’ roll riot from start to finish, thunderous rolling drums provide the perfect backdrop for the fervent slashing of guitars, and Blacks’ howling southern drawl. The fact that this will probably get very little recognition outside of those who are already in the know is a crying shame, but hey, ultimately it’s their loss. Go and buy this.
