Following on from a series of highly charged festival shows this summer, including a triumphant secret Glastonbury appearance at Lost Vagueness, the 2 Tone legends and undisputed gods of pop, Madness, are set to go on the road once again, unleashing their nutty boys knees-up, with seven nationwide arena shows – it might not be uptown Jamaica but they promise you a treat. Kicking off in Aberdeen on the 6th December and joining the dots to end up at the London O2 Arena on the 14th December, Madness are set to cause havoc across the UK with one of their most spectacular shows to date.
From the supreme Ska stylings of early hits 'The Prince' and 'One Step Beyond' to the mercurial magnificence of pop gems 'On The Wings Of A Dove' and 'Our House', Madness are a national treasure. The most successful chart band of the eighties, notching up a stunning 214 weeks on the singles chart, their appeal goes far and wide, transforming them from a mere band into a fully-fledged institution.
This UK tour will see them launch a new era of Madness and put them back on centre stage. The 7 hot-ticket shows will feature the full strength line up of Suggs, Chas Smash, Chrissy Boy, El Thommo, Woody, Barso and Bedders. A quintessential live experience this promises to be their best yet with new production elements and some surprises set for the finale at London's 02.
Whilst ardent fans can expect to hear the treasured hits of yesteryear and tracks from their acclaimed Dangermen Sessions they will also be treated to a taste of the band's highly anticipated new material from forthcoming studio album LUCKY7 (working title), due for release early next year. With rumours of some truly inspired collaborations in the pipeline, more secret gigs up their sleeve and a host of innovative new ways of showcasing their abundant creativity, it's time for Madness to step forward and prove that, as ever, they are one step beyond.
