THE AUTOMATIC LOSE A MEMBER

The Automatic's keyboardist Pennie has quit the band.

The keyboard player and backing singer announced his departure from the band this morning via the bands official website. The main reason given for the departure is that he had found the last year 'increasingly un-enjoyable', and that he was 'growing apart from the rest of the band'. The other members of the band fully intend on carrying on and are set to record their new album out in the States soon.

After headlining the NME Shockwaves tour in January the band have spent the vast majority of the year touring abroad. The impact that the headlining slot should have given the band hasn’t really materialised and their profile has been diminishing. It will be interesting to see if they can arrest the trend and re-launch the band without such an integral member of their live shows.
