The clubbing world's favourite institution turns 15 years young on Saturday 20th October and to celebrate they will be hosting a stonking great big party at its spiritual home Nation in Liverpool.
Once in a while, something comes along that doesn't just ignore the rule book, but rewrites it…in 1992 Cream did just that. Beginning its journey in a one room nightclub for 400 people and spreading its wings to sell out 60,000 capacity festivals in Argentina, you could say its been a trailblazing road to hedonism. They remain stalwart masters at throwing epic parties and this one will be no exception.
Headlining the event is Armin Van Buuren, ranked as #2 in the DJ top 100, returning to Liverpool for the first time in 3 years, this trance DJ & Producer extraordinaire will be delivering some chunky throbbing trance in the Courtyard. Another welcome return will be from the UK's best loved DJ and host of Radio 1's ground breaking Essential Selection Show Pete Tong, he is a master of merging the underground and the mainstream and a Cream birthday just wouldn't be the same without him. Joining him and popping his Cream cherry will be David Guetta, a key catalyst of Parisian nightlife and promoter of one of Ibiza's most glamorous nights F*** Me Im Famous, this jack of all trades and master of many is also producer du jour for hits such as The World Is Mind, expect this exciting coup for Cream to be a performance talked about for a long time to come.
Another flying dutchman added to this all star line up is Marco V, having had a standout summer performing for Cream in Ibiza this Summer, he will be armed with a barrage of tech trance vinyl for your aural delight.
Over in the Annexe….the room where it all began, its only fitting that this should be devoted to 15 years of Cream classics. At the helm will be godfathers of the dance generation Graeme Park & Mike Pickering, this duo provided the musical soundtrack to one of the most important club nights in history – The Hacienda. This rare occasion that the duo will be performing back to back will no doubt create a little taste of house music history and is guaranteed to get some of the 'old Cream faithful' crowd dusting off their dance shoes for a trip down memory lane.
Other DJ's joining in the nostalgia trip and who have been firmly instructed to dust off their vinyl will be former residents K-Klass and Cream boss James Barton, never one to run from a knees up he will be performing back to back with Cream resident Andy Mac. Also expect performances from Adam Sheridan, the lovely Tylor Leigh, Gareth Wyn, Andy Mac, Lee Ellis and Anthony Probyn.
So raise your glass to Cream, who invite you to join them on one of the friendliest dancefloors in the world. You'll be glad you did, we can assure you of that!
Cream's 15th birthday is in association with BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix and will be recording sets from Pete Tong and Armin Van Buuren, to be broadcast on Saturday 27th October between 3am – 5am (Friday night into Saturday morning).
