July saw the legendary Edgar ‘Jones’ Jones and The Joneses, return with a new album ‘Gettin’ a little Help’. Now the band are set to play Manchester Academy on October 11th and it promises to be a very special occasion.
As with the critically acclaimed album ‘Soothing Music For Stray Cats‘ – an innovative witches brew of Jazz, R ‘n’ B’, Soul, Doo Wop – which was nominated for the Mercury Music prize and was Noel Gallagher’s album of the year, something quite special and unique was expected.
Since the demise of Edgar’s first band ' The Stairs ' who's single ' Weed Bus ' and the following album ' Mexican R 'n' B ', went on to become the classics they deserved to be, he has worked with the best : Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, St Etienne, Candie Payne and the lost La, Lee Mavers, as well as forming 'The Big Kids' who featured two of the future Zutons.
Both The Stairs and The Big Kids have been influential on the current music scene. Edgar Jones and The Joneses once again set the standard with their new album released on The Viper Label.
