Clinic to play Liverpool Music Week

With Kaiser Chiefs, Hard-Fi, Madness, The Chemical Brothers, Pendulum, Good Shoes, The Bees, Simian Mobile Disco (Live), Lightspeed Champion, and New Young Pony Club already confirmed, Liverpool Music has announced more acts to play the largest indoor festival in November/December.

CLINIC, KISSY SELL OUT, QUANTIC and DAN DEACON have been added to the stellar line up that includes a bunch of top liverpool acts with some of the best bands and DJs from across the country.

The festival has managed to snare a live performance from the Grammy nominated ‘Clinic’. This will be the alternative band’s first headline performance in Liverpool for many years. The four piece who are currently on tour supporting Arcade Fire are a band like no other, and noted for their fast-paced, eclectic, distinguished sound which can be recognised by their prominent use of vintage keyboards/organs and peculiar off-scale chord progressions. Despite being a band that is renowned for shirking the music industry limelight, they captivated audiences during their Beatlesque performance on America’s David Letterman Show. The band will be performing at Zanzibar on the opening weekend of the festival.

Electronic music lovers will be clapping their hands in glee with the unveiling of Korova’s headline artists. Chromeo, David E Sugar, The Ting Tings and Crystal Castles all play live during the week which sees the venue’s main club night Evol’s 4th Birthday. Also just confirmed is Kissy Sell Out – an inspirational act that has emerged from the MySpace generation of cool nerds and sonic visionaries and performs everything from Klaxons acid-indie disco through to Justice’s ultra modern electro.

For those of us who love soul and funk, Quantic are a band you don’t want to miss. Will Holland aka Quantic has catapulted himself to the top of the scene in a very short time, you may have heard his sounds under his original Quantic Moniker or under the live rocking funk soul heaviness of the Quantic Soul Orchestra…either way you can spot a Quantic production a mile off. His talent has seen him work with some of the finest names around. Remixing Charlie Parker and Breakestra, collaborating with Sharon Jones and Mr Scruff, sharing a live stage with De La Soul, to producing and writing with Spanky Wilson. A firm fixture at some of the UK’s hottest festivals including Glastonbury and the Big Chill, he is a young talent that is admired by producers, vocalists and musicians of all ages. Pour yourself a moquito, kick back and prepare to be entertained. Quantic will be performing at Magnet’s Gold in the Shade night on Saturday 8th December

Also performing will be Dan Deacon, the Maryland based electronic music composer is one act not to be missed, emerging from the Baltimore music scene the term ‘Experimental’ doesn’t even begin to describe Deacon’s unique niche of music style. This sound smith manipulates electronic frequencies to create a maelstrom of noise that can be considered both musical and story like. In fact the spectacle of his energetic and eccentric live shows are a must see in themselves. Dan will be performing at Barfly on Thursday 6th December.

LMW Founder Mike Deane Comments: “Liverpool Music Week works closely with the best local promoters to ensure the most diverse and best agenda possible for the inner city festival. Alternative promoters Class A Audio have pulled a gem in Clinic's first Liverpool show for years, Evol has had a stunning year, and made Korova one of the most prestigious venues for new bands, while Gold in the Shade continues to carve its own niche at the Magnet and provides a quality night of funk and afrobeat. Dan Deacon is new, alternative and very fresh, and a great booking by Barfly for LMW. This is just the tip of the iceberg for the city centre shows, and we will be announcing the full line-up including all the free shows next week…”

More acts to be announced over the coming weeks.

Aintree Pavillion / Bumper / Philarmonic Hall / Carling Academy / Nation / Zanzibar / The Metropolitan / Korova / Parr Street Studios / Magnet / Barfly / Static Gallery / Bar Hannah / Bar Fresa / FACT / Dragon / Cotton Club / Café Latte / Tabac
