Britbus Goes Global in 2008: First Stop UK!

After three successive US tours in its pimped out double-decker bus promoting unsigned bands the BritBus has established itself as a reputable force. Success stories have included Proxy, who have gone on to sign a major label deal with Digital Island Records and The Crave who have since had a track licensed to Harley Davidson for a 12 month promotional campaign. Garnering support from more established UK artists including The Magic Numbers, Katie Melua, The Feeling, Paul Oakenfold and The Kaiser Chiefs, the BritBus has created a platform for success in the US and a launch pad for the rest of the world. Now, it is coming to the UK with a two-pronged attack to a) search for new deserving talent and to b) stage the first ever UK BritBus tour.

A true and credible champion of the British music scene the BritBus offers a unique and unparalleled opportunity for UK artists to take their sound to the corners of the globe. Harnessing promising musicians and offering them a management contract, ongoing support and a pot of £100,000K of initial investment, live tours, festival appearances and a potential record deal – the BritBus rewards exceptional talent whilst simultaneously promoting the British Music Scene across the globe.

Throughout November the BritBus will be opening its application process via link to unsigned artists of any genre where they will be able to upload their music for consideration. With an initial closing date of 1st December the first round of entries will be put out to a unique opinion panel of students and industry experts around the world. Via a global intranet created by The Six Finger Think Tank and NYU Steinhardt Music Business School – the chosen panels from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia will deliver a list of favourite artists from the submitted entries. These results will then be sent to an internal A&R panel for consideration before a final shortlist is drawn up from all the information gathered. With talent the only pre-requisite any number of acts could make the final cut and be invited on board the first stage of BritBus regional dates.

The live stages will launch in early 2008 with regional gigs across the UK. Local media will be invited and asked for feedback on each of the performing artists. Dividing the wheat from the chaff, this process will highlight who cuts the mustard with their live shows and help the panel decide just who they want to put their weight behind in 2008; whether it’s 1 act or 5 – they are sure to be in for the journey of a lifetime.

The chosen acts will set off in the BritBus on a UK tour cementing their reputation and fan base on home ground; they will then be whisked off on a whistle stop tour of at least one key territory either the US, Australia, Japan or China for an unforgettable tour; returning to the UK to play a string of high profile festivals.

With the backing of Virgin Atlantic, Gibson Guitars and MySpace plus more sponsors coming on board very soon The BritBus will provide at least one deserving act with a incredible career boost whilst supporting the scene from which they emerged. Prestigious and global this is a unique once in a lifetime opportunity that will provide the right musicians with the infrastructure and network to cut through the noise and make themselves heard all over the world.
