Liverpool Music Week is massive success

Record breaking audiences attended this year's Liverpool Music Week. Over 50,000 people are said to have attended, which is 30,000 more than last year. There was so much excitement we completely forgot the Queen was in town for the royal variety show thingy.

The UK’s largest indoor winter music festival kicked off on Thursday 29th November and put together its biggest line up so far, attracting some of the UK’s hottest acts.

Kaiser Chiefs headlined the 11 day festival on Friday 9th December at Aintree Pavilion to a sell out audience of 6000 people, other big name acts who performed included Madness, The Chemical Brothers, Hard Fi, Pendulum, Good Shoes and New Young Pony Club.

As well as attracting audiences to the big Aintree shows, crowds flocked to 16 of the cities best music venues to check out some of the cream of the UK's break through talent, including, Candie Payne, The Rascals, Eugene McGuinness, Lightspeed Champion, James Yorkston, The Tigerpicks, Dan Deacon, Friendly Fires, Kissy Sell Out and Remi Nicole. The event staged over 50 events across 11 days, and featured over 270 artistes. Sunday Nights closing party at Aintree was headlined by The Chemical Brothers who delivered an electric live performance to the 5000 strong audience. The band joined in the celebrations back at Liverpool Music Weeks city centre closing party at Alma Da Cuba which saw an exclusive collaboration between Candie Payne and the Sense Of Sound Choir perform to a packed out audience, also making a surprise guest appearance on Sax was The Zutons Abi Harding.

This year established promoters Cream joined forces with Mike Deane and his team to take the festival to the next phase, and judging by the sell out shows and jam packed city centre venues the partnership has proved a great success. Plans are already in place for next years festival which is expected to take place in November to coincide with next years MTV European Music Awards which has just been confirmed to take place in Liverpool for the cities capital of culture year.
