Santogold’s Santi White is a Brooklyn based singer/writer/ producer. In a previous life White worked in the A & R department at Epic Records. White also fronted punk band Stiffed but has now gone solo and created the innovative Santogold. The first track ‘Creator’ has a tribal funk feel to it, with a blend of punk guitars and is mixed by producer Switch.
‘L.E.S Artistes’ is more of a pop track not dissimilar to the likes of Rihanna and proves to be instantly catchy. ‘Creator’ and ‘L.E.S Artists’ are very different sounding tracks proving that White is no one trick pony and skilfully manages to blend new wave, punk, pop, reggae and funk.
White is already catching people’s eye having recently toured with Bjork and being asked by Mark Ronson to co- write a song for Lily Allen, she looks set to have a bright 2008 ahead of her.
