Immediately resounding any club anthem as it kicks in with its attitude driven vocal, banging dance-floor beat and nothing more, the track sneakily escalates into a multi layered composition of varied sequencer trickery and then lo and behold the laughable. Enter Wacko and a more than abused sample of ‘Wanna be starting something’ (I think). It’s from around that point that any input from Rihanna herself not only becomes unnoticeable but redundant too.
This is already in the US top 5 due to its download success alone, following her valid and record breaking ‘Umbrella’ hit granted. Both tracks come from Rihanna’s #1 LP, which incidentally features the likes of J. Timberlake, Jay Z and Timbaland. I wonder if that fact has anything to do with the unjust amount of praise and attention being lavished on this less than mediocre release. No fault of her own I admit and I wish nothing but the best of luck to anyone who helps terminally ill kids like Rihanna does. Which is good news for her, because her sales just might plummet after her LP leaves the charts.
