Correcto - Do It Better
Album Review

Correcto – Do It Better

Glaswegian band Correcto are technically known as a supergroup in that bass guitarist Patrick was in The Royal We and drummer Paul is in Franz Ferdinand, but the second single from their yet-to-be-released self-named debut album shows it is more than just a side project. These guys have made a sound, and a name, for themselves by producing gritty punk that takes full advantage of the harsh reality of modern Glasgow as a backdrop.

“Do It Better” is about the numbing effects of everyday life, doing the same thing repeatedly and never quite getting it right. The music is as raw as the message, with frenetic guitars and an edgy sound that is refreshing in this digital age. The vocals, written and performed by Danny Saunders, are wonderfully off-kilter yet with a great melody and lyrics that are very human, simple and yet honest.

B-side “The Plan” isn’t quite as good, but still worth listening to, particularly if you can’t wait for the album. If this single and their debut “Joni” are anything to go by then Correcto are soon going to be more than successful in their own right and can give up on that supergroup tag once and for all.
