Go Faster - Flammable leisurewear
Album Review

Go Faster – Flammable leisurewear

In some respects, Go Faster could almost be The Futureheads – but who’s to say that’s a bad thing? Their new single, ‘Flammable Leisurewear’, is a prime example of new wave punk at its best; combining lightening-fast riffs and chord progressions with anthemic vocals and sharp lyrics.

The title track, ‘Flammable Leisurewear’, grabs you buy the throat and keeps hold of you for the next three minutes. It’s a pounding party song that doesn’t take itself too seriously, yet still manages to squeeze in keenly observant and funny lyrics about ‘no win, no fee’ vultures roaming the streets of Liverpool and undernourished, tracksuit-clad street gangs.

Likewise, B-Side ‘Girl With A Reputation’ contains some of the best vocals I’ve heard since Half-Man Half-Biscuit: ‘She got a kind of reputation / She puts it out / She’s got a kind of infestation.’

Beginning with bands such as Art Brut, the Arctic Monkeys and more recently The Pigeon Detectives, Go Faster are in good company as they join the ranks of a new breed of intelligent and witty music that’s a pleasure to listen to. Highly recommended.
