Worst Pop Moments? Best Pop Moments!

Being a night owl I can often be found on msn late at night chatting rubbish and causing havoc in poker rooms, pretending to be a woman, gay, left wing, right wing or just plain old obnoxious me. This is fun. The downside to this habit is the need to watch late night TV. The most annoying genre being ‘100 best/worst of…’, and so it was with surprise that I found myself watching, and even eagerly anticipating the second half of, The 100 Worst Pop Moments.

Now, everyone who knows me agrees that I have terrible taste in music (sorry all those bands I have bigged up, praised and championed – the truth is that even if you do not care, you do not want my support). So with mirth I watched the so called 100 worst moments of pop and was not surprised that they were conversely, on the whole, my TOP 100 pop moments.

Z-list celebs and journalists being prompted to follow the decisions of whichever low level researcher has deemed bad… it riled me. How dare they rip into R Kelly’s Hip-Hopera (‘I Believe I Can Fly’ is truly the greatest Karaoke song ever – if I sang at Karaoke that is), the Beddingfield siblings (need I say anymore), Lily Allen (who after showing her third nipple on the Friday Night Project shot up in my estimation), Christina Aguilera (don’t, just don’t. I will snap you), Lil Chris (with his Peter Pan ability to not grow up) and James Blunt (who it seems is actually quite a nice guy even if he is rich).

Yes I am edging to my thirties and revel in bland easy to understand lyrics that cause my brain no hurt to comprehend. The last CD I attempted to ’get’ was Mars Volta – Frances The Mute, it took me weeks to submerge myself in…. Then I lost it. So now I don’t attempt to tackle tricky time changes, metaphorical meanings and long forgotten scale systems (they were forgotten for a reason by the way). Lines like ‘Your Beautiful, Its True’ do it for me, and I am quite happy thank you very much.

So does this inspire you with confidence that I, a musically defunct pop moron is now one again editing this lovely website? Fear not as we have many helpers who all ignore what I say and actually listen and cover music that tests boundaries and inspires a new generation. So keep reading….
