David Ford – I’m Alright Now

Eastbourne’s David Ford returns with the third single from iTunes Folk Chart topper Songs For The Road, following Go To Hell and Decimate.

I’m Alright Now is Ford at his most sublime. Melancholic, guitar-led melody backed by a violin’s strings and Ford’s gruff, emotional vocals. “Every scar sits like a marker, every line on the face is a small souvenir” Ford muses, referencing those incidents from everyone’s past that just seem to stay there for all time.

But this is a song that isn’t dwelling on what has happened in the past, this is Ford saying that yes, bad things have happened and in his own confession “I was stupid, I was insensitive, I was all the things I promised that I never would be” but he’s alright now.

And thank God that he is, frankly, because David Ford is one of the UK’s most gifted songwriters and the musical world would be a languid place without him.
