Nex’s single Dansylvania is a real party animal, energetic and brisling with good ideas, like a young Mike Patton, Ed’s slightly offbeat banter jumps around well amongst the sounds and moves played by the rest of the band.
They literally throw everything at you to get you moving, and most of the time it does. The excellent ‘Before the storm’ throws out metal chords with an upbeat feel, resulting in an irresistible combination- that just escapes the 80’s party metal tag by a whisker.
Everything moves quickly and changes frequently- sometimes too quickly for them to stick and ‘Dansylvania’ feels like Nex trying to catch that lightning in a bottle, which certainly they do-but they could have gotten more by allowing some songs of the three songs on offer here more room.
