The Frantic are 5 indie scamps who wowed the judges of the Wireless O2 competition last year, landing them a gig in Hyde Park, and the Band Republic competition which has given them in the marvellous situation to release their first single. ‘Killing Time’ is a quintessentially jangly affair with the usual spiky guitars, jagged beats and falsetto vocals. But it is actually the B-sides that get your ears taking notice. Nothing fares completely original here, with suggestions of most dance floor offenders from Bloc Party to Foals and every band featuring on a Skins soundtrack in between. But having been around for such a short time and already making such waves I’m sure there is a more original sound to come.
