What is good about the music industry is that no matter how much you may hate the mainstream, or even detest certain trends that come about. They all enevitably change. Looking back through the decades you see major shifts in focus. The last couple of decades have been slower to progress. This is partly because many of what there is available has been done before (Hence all the retro). But also all the big companies did exist way back when – so enevitably they want to milk the cash cow before taking on any other risky ventures. But it will still change in time. Maybe not as fast as we would hope, adition to the indie-rock pantheon. Chris T-T may not be a new artist, but that is meant in both senses. He is old and so is his act.
As this kind of music becomes ever more blurred it’s hard to namepick who people are starting to sound like, and this track ‘A-Z’ sure sounds like somehting that has come before. The tune itself is passable. It won’t do any harm to anyone, nor will it anger anyone except maybe the odd critic who is dying to hear something mind blowingly new. But sadly it will not inspire much either. The vocals on the track aren’t that of a natural and the lyrics are familiar real life territory.
Fans of modern life lyricists may find some amusement, otherwise we will have to wait and hope that the forthcoming album has more powerful thematics at work.
