Ethan J Perry plays a solo acoustic guitar, backed by bass, drums and sonic effects by computer and human counterparts.
Having moved from his native Seattle to the more sunny climates of Colorado at an early age, Ethan J Perry took up a solo approach after failing to settle into a succession of bands.
The music that he produces is hugely reminiscent of The Beatles during their more downbeat era. Many Years Ago has an airy John Lennon-esque vocal that dips and drops, rises and falls throughout. What the song lacks is a little distinction, in that the melody rarely shifts from its opening.
Concordia Discours is a more chord-based acoustic guitar song where it’s just Ethan and the guitar. Again, it’s downbeat but flows well with a variety of pace and melody.
If you’d have bought an acoustic album of slow songs by The Beatles, you may enjoy this. But don’t expect liveliness, this is solemn music for those late night ponderings.
