This week I have mainly been watching ‘Flight Of The Conchords’. A New Zealand duo who transplant themselves to New York to make it with their band. Unfortunately they only have one fan, a married stalker, and a hapless manager. Some would say it mirrors my own experiences managing bands… grrr. Anyway, the story is fairly random and interspersed with hilarious songs in a plethora of styles. They claim to be the forth best New Zealand Folk Hip Hop combo and I believe them. With hip names of Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros you can probs imagine where they are coming from. So this week I shall be mostly trying to get them over here to do some shows. They have a new series out in the US as soon as the writers strike is over so check them out and be enthralled by them.

Reading material wise February was very very busy with over 250 reviews! That’s like 12 a day or something. With so much happening out there you should probably just trust us and read what we think about it all. Remember we cover indie, hip hop, electro, metal, punk new and old – it’s a free for all really, and we KNOW what we are talking about.
Things that deserve a mention:
SixNationState (Exclusive video of their new single ‘Blow Your Mind’) – link
Muse Video (obviously, how can any muso not like these) – link
Duffy (she has sprung to the top of the charts. See why) – link
link
Dickensian Disco (our very own Manchester club night. Probs the best there is, so read why) – link
Cazals (We have been watching these and it has seemed they have taken an interminable amount of time to get out there. Review and interview) –

Frank Turner (if you don’t like him then you probs shouldn’t be reading this. Stop. Now. ) – link
Editors (Its taken a while for me to admit liking them.. probably because my mum does) – link
Nick Cave (I am working really hard to get tickets to his ONLY UK show. I should probably review the album but it keeps getting nicked by people in the office. Single review here.)

Doug Walker (brand new Manchester talent. Watch out) – link
Ursula Minor (they use Atari’s for sampling. That’s usually enough to pique my interest) – link
And finally apparently The Police are doing their last ever gig in Ireland. Why they are boycotting the emerald island is a mystery apparently. – link
That’s all from me for now.. cya
PS – Oh have you been watching the new BBC3 show ‘Mrs Inbetweeny’? It’s pretty good… but the ending theme music is annoying me. I think it may be called ‘Turn Of The Light@ or something. Anyone know who it’s by? First person to tell me wins some free CDs. Answer below.
